This is a very stumulating and motivating video for teachers who want to understand their students and be able to use technologies "Whatever, Whenever, Wherever (new WWW)".

  1. Very interesting video there Svetlana. It's interesting, because for a video of 7 mins plus, there's an awful lot of reading, which takes some concentration. Some of the ideas about 5 mins into the video, for how technology can be used to enhance learning are pretty good, however.

The key question, of course, is of what motivates us and how do we learn exactly?

There's a lot to be said for allowing learners to have real world experiences alongside phones, computers, tv and video. I once took out a class of 8 and 9 year olds on a field trip to a public waste disposal unit. Best day some of them had ever had!

  2. Very interesting. This really speaks to "teaching outside the box" - that's an interesting term. The tube said it all.

Now we should all go out and do likewise.

    Thanks for that Lana.

  3. I was watching this video and was wondering: was there a better way to present this? It seems to me that the ideas in the video are inconsistent with the way the information is presented (i.e. passively watching text run through the screen)

  4. Yes, I agree that it is not the best way to preent the ideas. I have shown this video to teachers of English language, and really I felt that they needed variety at some point. But this was the way how I saw it for the first time. And probably why I chose the programme which I am studying now. I just got very curious about all those technologies mentioned.

  5. Hey Lana, interesting video, certainly gives lots to think about and I can see why you found it motivating. I agree that the method of presentation seems a little contradictory to the technologies it speaks of, though if its intention is to intrigue the viewer and leave them wanting to find out more then it works. I loved the reference to B.G. (before google! - hard to imagine life without google isn't it?) At the same time as leaving me intrigued, the video has also made me feel a little overwhelmed I guess. See my problem is time - I don't think any teacher would fail to see the need and benefits of using technology in their teaching, but until you know about them, and the potential of how they might be used in the classroom, how do you know where to start? There aren't enough hours in the day to familiarise ourselves with these technologies to 'catch up' with the learners!
